Wade Wilson Sentenced to Death: In a chilling case that has shocked the nation, Wade Wilson, dubbed the “Deadpool Killer,” has been sentenced to death in Florida for the brutal murders of two women in 2019. The 30-year-old, who shares his name with the infamous Marvel antihero, was convicted earlier this year for the heinous crimes, which Lee Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson described as “heinous, atrocious, and cruel.”
Wilson’s first victim, 35-year-old Kristine Melton, was attacked in her home after a drug-fueled sexual encounter. Wilson strangled Melton, stole her car, and then used her phone to contact his girlfriend, Melissa Montanez, whom he later assaulted when she refused to accompany him.
The second victim, 43-year-old Diane Ruiz, encountered Wilson in Cape Coral while asking for directions. Wilson invited her into his vehicle, where he strangled her before dumping her body. In a gruesome act of violence, he then ran over Ruiz repeatedly with his car, an act so horrific that a witness described her body as looking like “spaghetti.”
Judge Thompson emphasized the calculated nature of Wilson’s crimes, particularly the premeditated and cold-blooded manner in which he killed Ruiz. Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner further condemned Wilson’s actions, highlighting the terrifying reality of strangulation as “the epitome of life slipping through someone’s hands.”
Despite the gravity of his offenses, Wilson received an outpouring of fan mail during his time in jail, including love letters and explicit photos. Some admirers even appealed to the judge for leniency, arguing that Wilson’s behavior was influenced by brain damage, drug addiction, and childhood abandonment issues. His attorneys echoed these concerns, pointing to his traumatic upbringing and struggles with mental health.
Wilson’s adoptive parents also pleaded for mercy, expressing their belief that “the human is still in there.” However, the court ultimately decided that the severity of his crimes warranted the death penalty. In addition to the murder convictions, Wilson was found guilty of grand theft, burglary, battery, and petit theft.
The case of Wade Wilson, the “Deadpool Killer,” serves as a grim reminder of the darkness that can lurk behind even the most unexpected faces.
